Re: [FWDLK] powder coating: what about torsion bars?



How about another "heated" debate:  what about powerdercoating torsion bars?  is it flexible/durable enough compared to the paint-dip process?

That's what a PC shop usually does for you. They will take care of removing
the old finish. Either by blasting or chemical.

Somewhere around the mid-late 80's, I had the window sills of
my car PC'ed in gloss black, because the painting of the driver's
sill did not hold up to normal wear and tear.

Now (about 20 years later), I'm seeing that the PC is starting to
get thin/worn off in the area where my arm extends out of the door.

I was starting to think about what would be necessary to restore
its finish.

I was thinking that a new application of PC might be all that would
be necessary.

True, or does the existing PC need to be removed, first?

I presume that the PC-shop could do the removal/preparation
work, right?

Paint is durable, how it was done OEM, and maintenance / repair is a simple
process. PC is a PITA if you have to redo it.
