i know we've corresponded before... so you know i'm very familiar with these cars- went through 51 or 52 57/8/9 plymouths and a dozen desotos/dodges 57-9 and 1 59 chrysler! not to mention everythings else 30s-56....
unless your frame is damaged/rotted... a frame swap really isnt worth the time- if you think its going to add rigidity, its not- most/all GM chassis are non-boxed perimeter c-channel frames- to fit under the mopar body you'll be cutting all body mounts/gussets along the rockers to clear the frames- weakening the body structure/support. then comes into the fact the GM a-body frame has the proper track, but 64-67 are 115" wb and 68-72 2dr cars are 112, 4drs/wagons/monte carlo[70-72] are 116" so.... perhaps using the rails of the dodge with the frt and rear clip of the GM would be better for you...
the 57-9s handle close to as well as most muscle-era cars, the orig chassis is easliy updated with x-body brakes, or gm b-body brakes for the matter... and there's nothing wrong with rear leaf suspension- i've seen as good as a 1.7 60' at th track using original main leaves with B-body super stock lower leaves.... one option i'm exploring is the transplant of a complete aspen/volare subframe for the transverse torsion bar setup to clear the exhaust my 700+hp 500 B1 stroker needs to breathe in my 57 without running fenderwell headers... however, even then, i think the mustang II setup on original rails will compliment the 4-link rear well, and offers better brake upgrades over the x-body stock setup transplanted...
i have done well over 130mph with stock chassis 57-8s... a few people here have actually witnessed it once or twice. the aspen brakes clamp it down well... but so does my 59 fury with stock large body frt brakes from a 120 drawdown.... like when i had to nail the brakes after not letting a brand new G37 pass me on the parkway... fun stuff
any mopar 57-up should stay with its factory chassis unless your planning a full tube race chassis- no other modified/stretched/narrowed GM chassis will give driveability improvements worth the labor- not to mention welding and calculation prowess... if it were a kingpin car- i suggest a clip at least- i used a typical nova clip on my 41 plym bus. cpe, chevelle clip on my 48 chevy coupe, did 2 different 54 plymouths on the 77-95 caprice chassis, a little wide track, but with the right rims, it worked out, and i also put a 54 firedome on a 76 lesabre chassis.. that went wery well as wheelbases were an excellent match, and needed rocker work anyway- i also used partial sections of the GM floors in all 3 of those builds.
