Don,
I’ve had it done to my 318 – it runs like a champ. Here’s some
correspondence with Lou Cortese, where he outlines what needs to be done.

Dan:The Pertronix kit doesn't fit an Autolite
distributor, the one with the with the oil cup on the side. I used a
remanufactured unit from a NAPA store for 1960-1972 318 [LA block].Since I'm at
work now and don't have a computer at home(yet),I'll have to email you tomorrow
morning with the Pertronix part number. Don't forget, the Autolite cap and
rotor are different so you'll have to get them too when you change
distributors. I used an MSD "Blaster" coil but Pertronix also sells
coils and perhaps they can point you in the right direction regarding coils.
Type at you tomorrow,
Lou Cortese

Dan I know the LA thing sounds weird but they
interchange. Use Pertronix 1381A to convert these distributors.

Subject: [FWDLK] ignition conversion
Hi guys, once again
I need your expertise. I am contemplating installing an ignition conversion
kit on my '59 Belvedere 318. Has anyone out there done it? Are there
downsides to doing this? I want to maintain the stock look of my distributor.
I have found a product on the web called "Hot Spark" Anyone
familiar with this product?? Thanx Don
