Uh, not exactly. Original silent films were shot around 16 fps. Since the
cameras were hand cranked, that sometimes varied. When sound came in, as
well as motorized cameras, the standard became 24 fps. When the early 16 fps
films were projected 50% faster, at 24 fps, they appeared to be 'herky-
jerky'.
Non-Forward Look post, but had to clear that up. Ron Early moving pictures were filmed at 12 frames per second.
