everyone want to cry? i was given a tip by an old mopar guy in the area- went and checked it out- barn "melted" over a 300C [57 of course] someone already scalped the air cleaners and carbs... not much left of the interior as far as condition... roof 1/2 caved, etc... but it was pretty much all there- down to the chrome on the bumpers maintaining shape sans the metal begind them... aside from stealin it in perhaps 2 sections.. there was no getting it outta there, and no contact with the property owners... i heard it was like that since the 70s... i saw it 2 yrs ago- happened to pass there this summer- brand new house and a lawn where the C was.... its a few scions now.... -----Original Message-----

I took a 392 hemi engine out of a 1957 Imperial. The Imperial was in a junk yard in Pflugerville, Texas. It was around 1980. The '57 392 from this Imperial has the Firepower script. I still have that engine.
PS: Unrelated to the '57 Imperial 392 engine - I have a set of those dimpled valve covers, too. They were chrome when I bought them. I had them rechromed around 1981. They are really precious! Paid maybe $40 and another $50 for rechroming.
Another accessory for my 392 is a factory twin-fours setup. I bought it off a guy who had it in his barn half buried in mud. I paid him $40. It had everything except the air filters (naturally) and the rod to connect the rear carb to the throttle linkage.

It was very low mileage, in the twenties IFRC and had no evidence of any work on the engine. I had it in my possession for over a year and it most certainly had the valve covers stamped "IMPERIAL" as I was somewhat disappointed that they weren't the "FIREPOWER" covers as I intended to put the engine in my 58 Fury. Much cooler to a 16 year old kid. Dick
