Re: [FWDLK] Trunk painting question.

i was going to say the same thing- because i had 1 white car- 56 chrysler with orig paint- where the tarpaper insets were still whitish- they were painted-  also have a black 59 fury whose insets are somewhat shiny... also orig paint still under ecklid-  perhaps other colors soaked in, or flaked off-  i know what you mean about masking look- but maybe that was from expansion/contraction over the years- rubbed and took some paint with it?

longshot was they may have had patterns they laid down over the insets while painting- i have separated the panels- there is no paint between them so they were crimped together in bare steel- then painted...  another fwdlk mystery perhaps...
i have to look in the trunk of my 61 chry very... thats still orig mardi gras red... see what the asphalt looks like on that- none of the 57-8 plyms have full pieces, some have little dampenind rectangles- which look to be slid into place while the exposed grey/blue primer was wet.

I once read that the sound deadener used in the trunks ABBYsorbed the paint like a organic sponge. it ate the paint.
