watch your valves, turn the engine to the 0 mark after the intake valve closes [at 0 on the tab you're either at 1 or 180 deg out] once 0 and 1 are established, insert the pump drive such that when it seats [rotates down/into position] the slot will be parallel to the cam/crank [running frt to rear] when you drop in the distributor- you will be facing the factory 1 position [or 180 out] look at your wire placement. all in all you can drop in the drive in any position it fits, then turn the crank to determine where true #1 is... then arrange your wires accordingly- it doesnt matter to make it run, the above process just makes it "right"

I have a 413 in a 61 Newyorker. in the process of removing and reinstalling the engine, I removed the distributor shaft and thus by rotating the flywheel lost the timing. The bottom of the distributor shaft that fits into the engine has a flat male connection that fits into a groove in the engine area. Does this mean the distributor can only go in one of two ways? ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options,
