Basically find a '56 Chrysler donor car. The gauges, switches, gen, starter, seat motors, etc etc should bolt right on to the '55. The big question is why? Ass-u-me-ing you're not going to race, and aren't interested in things like spark dwell at high rpm, the six volt system should work fine. There is a compromise; 12 volt starting and generating system with a converter box to run everything else on 6 volt. These used to be readily available, don't know if they are now.--Roger van Hoy, Washougal, WA, '55 DeSoto, '58 DeSoto, '56 Plymouth, '66 Plymouth, '41 Dodge ----- Original Message ----- From: "debenson2" <debensonii@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 2:39 PM Subject: Re: [FWDLK] 6 volt to12 volt conversion If you have a 6 volt unit already just have it redone in 12 volt configuration, it is done all the time....If not contact me off line I have a whole PS set up to sell for a New Yorker...PB set up too if you need.... debenson2 431056 Brooklyn Park, Minnesota 55443 USA debensonii@xxxxxxxxxxx road2recovery.us----- Original Message ----- From: "victor koontz" <wikki123@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 12:16 PM Subject: [FWDLK] 6 volt to12 volt conversionI have a 1955 new yorker ,where do i get a 12 volt generator with the pwr. steering pump attached to the rear?************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1
