figured i'd share this with the list- i include torqueflites from 56 since they were found in imperials... powerflite converters work on t/fs in the iron years... seen it happen and heard it happen, though havent had to do it myself yet... -----Original Message----- From: jrawa@xxxxxxx To: eddee@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Fri, 5 Jun 2009 4:08 pm Subject: Re: [FWDLK] EARLY AND LATE CI TORQUEFLITE QUESTION all 56-61 converters interchange- in fact using the air cooled converter/bellhousing on later liquid cooled iron flites is a performance trick- especially if that converter is from a fury...
you can just unplug the lines- there is a bypass valve difference in the frt pump- i just use newer trans's with the air cooled 'verters... never liquified the air trans yet... -----Original Message----- From: eddee@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Fri, 5 Jun 2009 1:12 pm Subject: [FWDLK] EARLY AND LATE CI TORQUEFLITE QUESTION HELLO GROUP
Does anyone know if an early CI FLITE that used the air cooled convertor,,,,,,can be used with cooling lines to the radiator for the later applications??????
The plugs are there and can be removed from the early units so one would think just removing the plugs in the side of the trans and attaching the cooling lines would provide flow to the radiator?
Thanks to all
