The boots on my car were still perfect after 50 years when I replaced the trans and installed a modern style slip joint/U-joint. If the repos do not hold up, they are just made of the wrong kind of rubber. Whoever makes these should be using the same material as the C joint boots use. CV joints flex a lot in turns, where our drive shaft boots hardly flex at all.
