Production of 1958 models began in September, 1957, with introduction to the
public on November 1, 1957. Production of 1958 models came to an end in
late July, 1958. After WW II the "normal" changeover to the new models in
August did not become common until the 1959 models.
And the odds of a car landing up with a truck engine were very slim. In 1958 all Dodge trucks were built at the Warren, MI, facility while Dodge cars were built at Hamtramck, Newark and LosAngeles. And since Billybob states Feb 25, '58 was changeover time - then what happened to the normal changeover time in the late summer of 57? I suppose it was possible. What were the chances ? Not very probable.Clues like the blue paint suggest it has been meddled with at some point in the interim. So, then the question becomes "What is the objective?" Does someone want to buy this car ? If so, is it what they want for the money spent ? If the goofy engine is too much trouble, ..... keep looking. Simple as that !If it is close enough and an engine swap at a later date is OK, then by all means .... enjoy it !The bottom line is that a 354 Hemi in a 58 Dodge is not the stock offering, be it factory or some shadetree mechanic job. Still, if it floats yer boat, . ... go for it !I'm sort of advising, that MIGHT NOT be a 354, the "Dimples" are all wrong for a 354 UNLESS they were home made.-- Paul Holmgren Mine: 2 57 300-C's in Indy Hers: 05 PT GT R/T HO Hoosier Corps L#6 ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go tohttp://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1
