Thanks to the list for replying to my "quiet" e-mail. It sure got loud in a hurry. That's more like it. Thanks again.... Wonder how long it will last?

Last I heard, the deal was off and wouldn't be back unless the gov't gives GM the money to buy Chrysler.
There are lots of trade articles on the doom and gloom for Chrysler; all seem to agree that ALL Chrysler car lines would be stopped and 12,000 Chrysler people would be put out of work. Jeep would be a survivor as possibly Ram trucks, rebadged as Chev or GMC. All Chrysler/Dodge dealers would be out.
A marriage made in hell, that's for sure. Neither is looking at the other's dowery; Cerberus wants $$$ and who knows what GM is thinking.

Happily and gratifyingly shocked in this household. But there hasn’t been much activity.
One question: what are the thoughts out there about the possible merger of Chrysler and GM? What would the new company be called? Which car brands would be the first to disappear from the new corporate line-up? I’m thinking Pontiac would be the first to go as GM’s weakest sales division, followed by the Dodge Truck line from Chrysler. Any other theories?
