This has come up before, and I'll repeat my
experience. We've had trouble with the Corbin Clamps sealing on the larger
size radiator hoses, but seem to never have trouble with the smaller heater hose
size.
After getting drenched with coolant (fortunately
only very warm) after an upper hose came off after a test drive, we
looked for a more secure way to seal our radiator hose when it came time
to do the '56 DeSoto. As the car was restored for points, it was
important to have the right clamp.
We found that Gates has a shrink tubing hose clamp,
and used them UNDER the corbin clamp. We cut the shrink clamp down in
width a little, to help hide it. They clamp like crazy, and with the
Corbin Clamp installed and against the edge of the shrink clamp, it's virtually
invisible.

Subject: [FWDLK] hose clamps worth
doing
I am wondering now if it is
worth doing the hose clamps as are they good for a while { even just one
time use} or will they have a tendency to leak after a while.
does anyone else use these clamps with or with out
clicone ? or should I use another type of clamp.
I am not that worried about
being judged with the clamps I have on now as they are the modern
ones and do not leak.
thanks for all the replies about these i will either
order some if they are good or will leave well enough
alone.
