Jim, I would think that rattles would be the least of a car's potential
problems.
Looking at that original fastener, corrosion and water leakage would
appear to be the primary concerns.
If your car was built like my 57 Dodge, there is a relatively huge, deep
chasm surrounding the base of the rear window (dunno
about the windshield) with correspondingly huge mounting holes which
are perfectly located so as to produce C-pillar/parcel-
shelf, and trunk leakages.
After cleaning the rusted mess in that area, my shop applied a liberal
dose of silicone sealant to those holes.
Even with sealing up that channel area, and Rustoleumnizing it, there
still does not appear to be any engineered/designed drainages
for water to exit from that area---NOT unlike the water/crap that gets
into the rockers and quarter panels, which then can not
efficiently, or-at-all (as in the case of the quarter panels) drain
from those cavities, before rust-out occurs.
Speaking of which, as far as chicken-or-egg is concerned, which came
first, the drain-holes at the sides of the trunk side-cavities,
or the knowledge that the trunks WOULD leak, and that 'something' should
be done to allow them to be able to be drained......

i forgot whether or not the retaining clips for the lower windshield
and rear window trim for 57-9s were available or not- there are a
total of 7 along the rear window lower trim, and on the windshield, 5
centrally, and 2 at the edges of the transitional trim to the pillar.
was able to put together 2 full sets of real good used clips for the
future, but if they are available, that would be great as i can use
another 3 to 5 sets
as to not waste the original pieces, i went on a little adventure to
make the super-trim-clips... and it worked out phenominally..... you
may be able to lift the car from its trim now.... that's a grade 8
10-24 threaded carriage bolt. took about 5 min each to make.... so in
case they arent available... this is how I'd suggest making them
a little packing of ductseal will prevent any rattles....
