There were no AAA sanctioned races in 1957.  In 1955 the American Automobile
Association got out of the racing business and its Contest Board duties were
taken over by the newly-founded United States Auto Club.  NASCAR was formed
in 1949 and was never part of, or fell under, either AMA or USAC..

Also, the decision to end factory-sponsored racing came in June, 1957, when
the Automobile Manufacturers Association passed a motion to exclude speed
and racing from all automobile advertising.  With that decision all factory
support for racing came to a halt.
