My thoughts about my 58 DeSoto Firesweep. It is a 4 door sedan, so
not such a desirable classic as the 2 door hardtops, but I like it, and I
especially like the 58 paint/chrome scheme. My intent is to replace the 350 B block and the iron Torqueflite with a stroker 500 ci and a 727 push button. Engine painted as original. The body and trim pieces are pretty solid, so a little body work and repaint the original white over metallic green (done by me, so probably not show quality). Have the interior redone as original with a little more support in the bench seats. Upgrade the brakes to front disks with AAJ and 60s era rear drums. Rebuild the front end, add HD shocks. Maybe send the power steering box off to get it rebuilt with a tighter ratio and harder feel. Some bigger tires, maybe 16" rims, no larger. I think it will make a neat, unusual and very comfortable cruiser that will kick some butt if needed. Just my ideas for the old girl. Bill Huff . At 9/19/200703:11 PM, Bill Amberger wrote: Hi gang. Gotta question and wondered what y'all thought about this.
