Mike, I believe a large group of people are staying
at the Doubletree downtown, and I think I remember the Hampton Inn was the next
closest alternative...if you have internet access, look them up online and
call. Although most hotels are usually fairly forgiving in their
cancellation policies, they'll still charge you and wait for you to call back if
you never show up. I would think the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce might have
a listing of hotels in the city...so that might be a good way to narrow it as
well.
In regards to everyone else heading to
Tulsa...
I really wish I could be in Tulsa to witness the
unearthing...then again, hearing about all the goings-on, I'm sure I'll get a
chance to see the resurrected car at some point down the road (what are the
chances this thing, assuming its not in a pile, won't end up with a big
sponsor and get trailered around the country to various car shows?) and without
all the hullabaloo getting in the way (besides, it will be more entertaining
trying to watch the Coddington Crew start the car on TV, where you can get their
commentary on it during the whole process).
The biggest roadblock to my going is I finally got
a job. Guess it would be stupid to say to my employer "Hey, by the way,
I'm going to be in Tulsa June 15, see you when I get back." Well, stupid
to say if I still want a job anyway.
I guess what I'm saying is, I'd like to be there to
witness the history of the event...not so much for the hoopla and
regalia.

Subject: [FWDLK] Tulsa Roll Call?
My wife, Sharon, and I will be leaving NW New
Mexico on Wednesday, and stop once along the way. We'll get to town
Thursday afternoon. I have lost my e-mail confirmation of the room, but
I remember that I reserved back in June of last year, others were talking
about having a block of rooms in the same hotel. Can anyone give me some
ideas on where to call to confirm the reservation? I once before did this, and
could not confirm a room in Illinois. I got a room a another hotel, and
ended up getting a bill after the date from the original room. I'd
rather not do this again. I suppose I could just randomly call a lot of
the downtown hotels, but maybe you guys have some better
ideas.
