Subject: [FWDLK] 1961 Plymouth Wagon on
eBay
The seller has two wagons for sale on the same eBay auction, a 1961
Plymouth wagon and a 1964 Chrysler wagon. He is selling the two cars for
one price in the auction. The opening bid is $1000, with a B-I-N price
of $1500. Right now, there are ZERO bids. If you'll notice, the
auction incorrectly identifies the 1961 Plymouth as a 1963 model.
Here's a link to the eBay auction, which as of 3:50PM EST today, June
10th, still has three days and 21 hours left to the auction, and no
bidders.
I personally looked at both cars Saturday morning. Neither car has
a title. They are both somewhat rusty, especially the tailgates. The
windshield is broken on the Chrysler, and the Plymouth is missing the tailgate
glass. Bob seems to think the NYer could run with some tinkering.
He didn't say the same about the Plymouth. I wouldn't be too certain
about either one. I didn't bring my darn camera, but Bob said he would
take pictures to e-mail to anyone who was interested.
I'm not sure what model the Plymouth is. It is the four-door model
with full-fixed metal framed door windows, and is NOT a pillarless hardtop
wagon (I don't think Plymouth even offered them). All I can tell
you is that it came equipped with the clear squared-off steering wheel, but
none of the clear is still left on the rim - you can see this in one of the
auction page pictures. The rest of the interior is there, but
sun-beaten. I did not notice any nameplates on the car, except for the
"PLYMOUTH" on the tailgate. It is a manual-bench-seat, manual window,
manual-brake car, but has a radio, heater, 318 V-8 and pushbutton
Torqueflite. The passenger-side door has a large dent in it.
The rest of the doors & hood seem to open & close OK - I did not try
the tailgate, which has a loose crank for raising and lowering its
window. It is missing the wheelcovers, rear taillight lenses and that
tailgate window. (I happen to have a spare window that should fit well from a
similar-year Chrysler wagon.) Otherwise, it seems fairly complete.
It would take some work to get it back on the road, no doubt, but these come
up so seldom it would be worth it.
I don't have the need for both cars, but if someone was interested in
just the 1961 Plymouth Wagon, I'd give you $300 for the 1964 Chrysler after
you win the auction.
Bob said you could telephone him - He is from Ohio, but in Florida right
now, helping his buddy sell the cars. His cell phone number is
740-312-4842. He impressed me to be a real nice & honest guy.
The cars are located off a side road off Route 192 about 20 miles west of
the junction of I-95 and Route 192, west of Melbourne, Florida. I live
in the West Palm area, and I rode two hours north to look over the cars.
Good Luck!
