My opinion of “Buy it now” on eBay is that the seller typically figures out
what his item is worth, and doubles that for the BIN. When there is bidding
with a BIN, the bidding rarely reaches the BIN price. When an item only has
BIN, it often doesn’t sell.

I think buy it now's are great, not a loop hole....
One gets to buy it right away and will not have to take the
chance to wait and have some one else hike up the price!
Looks like a whole set up. and the parts you do not need
resell them on eBay and recoup some of the "BIN" fee!
eBay is a sales venue not a garage sale, we forget that at
times...
What would it cost to reproduce just the bezel??? This looks
like a deal to me!

except
that is not an auction, (ther is no place to make a bid) it is a Buy it Now
SALE...this is one of the many loopholes in Ebay...

Does
anyone know if this bezel project is dead or alive? I'd buy one
Thanks

Hi John,
The
project is not really dead, but not very alive either.
I got as
far as to make a detailed drawing of the bezel (see file) in order to sent
it to a small volume brass foundry that was interested in my project.
But as I
only had people interested in 13 of them, the repro run did not seem worth it
...
Furthermore,
as I lacked time to find less expensive solutions to make the repro
run, it stalled there.
Maybe
I'll reactivate this project this summer, when I'll have some time for it.
In the
meantime, I added your name and Brent Burger to the list.
If other
people are interested (besides those who answered me in the first place),
please let me know ...

Thanks, Vincent.
This piques my interest
( a bit prematurely, perhaps ?) as to what else is being reproduced that would
be relevant to my 58 DeSoto ?
I this project has been
dormant for some time now, but is slowly coming to life again as I whittle down
the last of the other things I need to do before building my shop. The
shop will be dedicated to restoring my cars, the DeSoto being the No.1
Priority.
Recently, Lee Exline
posted pix of quarter skins being re-popped for the 300 club. This was a
total surprise to me, but like I said, I have been letting this "sleeping
dog" lie for some time now and am out of touch.
Are there any other
typically "problem" parts for these cars being made that I should
know about ?
Thanks in advance,
Brent

Subject: Power window 4-way chrome bezel reproduction run
Hi everyone,
I'm considering making a reproduction run of the power window 4-way chrome
bezel used on all '57-'59 models, and I would like to know who would be
interested (the price is not known yet).
Thanks.
