Re: [FWDLK] '59 RB383 and Aluminum Torqueflite??

Thanks David.  John Hertog added that I would also need a post-1962 crankshaft, as I  suspected. Since the '59 & '60 Chrysler RB383 has a 3.75" stroke, it would need to be once from a 413 or 440.

Yes and no. If you have a B/RB 727, no problem. If you have an A series (318, 340, 360) small block engine 727, it don?t fit.

Subject: [FWDLK] '59 RB383 and Aluminum Torqueflite??

I was asked today if a 70's vintage 727 aluminum Torqueflite will bolt up to a '59-'60 vintage RB383 engine as found in a Windsor or Saratoga.

I know the 8-stud crank will need to be swapped out for a post-1962 6-bolt crank.

Will the trans otherwise bolt to the block?

Thanks,
