The drawback of the Mopar
conversion kit is in the lame distributor curve...
for performance, you need to recurve the
distributor or use the existing one and convert it to
operate without the standard points.
Correctly reworking the distributor is not that easy a task.
The Mopar kit is more expensive than a
complete assembly from a used vehicle source ( yard ).

Dual point distributors are used to keep
the points closed longer by overlapping them in their
operation and thus allow the coil to build
up more charge.  This is good at high rpms.
Without the higher rpms, it is not
necessary.

Points require replacement on an annual
basis for about 12,000 miles of use per year. They are
great the day you install them and go
downhill with every use after that.

Electronic systems stay relatively
the same, year after year.  No real maintenance required.
They can shoot a pretty big spark and jump
over a larger sparkplug gap. Potential environmental
benefit and power gains can be had from
wider spark gaps.

The newer orange boxes are crappy
quality.  Carry a spare.

Aren't you worried about rejection of the donor GM parts by
the MoPar patient?

  electronic?

The mopar conversion kit is a great upgrade, well worth the
trouble. If you want to go one step farther with the idea, take a look at:

  "dual points vs. electronic" distributor?
I have read
that some have not been happy with the mopar electronic conversion kit,
orange box ect, what is the real difference between single point, dual point
and electronic ignitions? In terms of starting freeway and city
    driving??
I have both and am about to install one and would like to
    hear what you guys think....
