57 Plymouths had a retainer strap kinda thing for the filler tube that was eliminated in '58, according to a Technical Service Bulletin that I have.

It's held/sealed in place by a big thick o-ring.  Usually you can just twist it out.

Subject: [FWDLK] Gas Tank removal!

Hi everyone!

 

Anyone out there know how to remove the gas tank off a 57 Plymouth?  We loosened the straps and wires leading to the gas tank.  How do you remove the filler tube that leads to the gas tank?  We are slowly making our way from the passenger floors to the trunk.  Then we will finish up with the quaters.  Any advice will be appreciated.
