I wouldn't think you would necessarily need tapping oil just to clean
out existing threads but if you did a quick spritz with an aerosol
can of brake cleaner would be more than adequate to clean it. I like
to use Permatex number one non-hardening aviation sealer for sealing
threads in the water jacket, mainly because it has always worked for
Me and the can I bought several years ago seems to be lasting forever.

My question is this: I plan to tap the holes before I reinstall a new manifold. I don't want to re-cut them, just clean them out to minimize the chances of stripping the threads due to grit, etc. Of course, that means I'll be using tapping oil. How do I clean out the oil from the threaded hole so the sealant has a clean surface to seal onto? Also, I assume orange sealer is the best application here? ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1
