I wouldn't think you would necessarily need tapping oil just to clean
out existing threads but if you did a quick spritz with an aerosol
can of brake cleaner would be more than adequate to clean it. I like
to use Permatex number one non-hardening aviation sealer for sealing
threads in the water jacket, mainly because it has always worked for
Me and the can I bought several years ago seems to be lasting forever.
