Hi all. My very first Chrysler product was a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe with 6V pos. ground. After 2 years of tolerating occasional hard starting I mounted a 12V alternator with neg ground. I knew to change all the bulbs and the ignition coil. Then I panicked when I thought it would crank backwards!!! To my great relief it cranked O.K. The starter never failed from the higher voltage, and I think even the wiper motor worked [I had the fastest wipers in town!!!]. On cold mornings in New England that faster cranking was a blessing.
