It was my experience the cheap "HELP" brand tool would work if you worried it around some, but the metal would bend because it's designed to pop out the GM type clips. I would think a slightly heavier piece of metal with a slot cut out to the size of the square shaft, would do the same job, and cost you maybe $10 and a couple hours to cut and bend a handle onto.
