Re: [FWDLK] Finned boats

I have an aluminum 1957/8 Crestliner Jetstream with "fins and tailights." 1957-60? 40 HP Mercury Lightning outboard and old coil spring boat trailer from the same era. Needs restoration, $400 firm takes it. I have not touched it in 3 years other than to mow around it. Fins look like 58 with triangular shaped tailights. If I don't sell it, it will sit there until I get to it...or not!

Hi Mark;
There were a number of these type boats made in that era. Since you can mold fiberglass in any shape you want, it was easy to give them an Automotive look. Just a sales gimmick.

There is one I'm trying to find, it's named "the Arkansas Traveller". In the 14' to 16' range. Several have slipped thru my hands due to lack of funds or getting to the scene too late. It has the Fins and also Taillights as I recall.

They are usually cheap, unless in perfect shape. I've never seen an inboard, but suspect they were built also.

Has anyone seen or does anyone here own a finned boat to go with their forward look mopar? This weekend at a flea market I encountered a boat whose title called it a 1959 Cat, with fins on the boat that reminded me of the '57 Plymouths fins!! I know I've seen pics of somebody out there with a '58 Fury and a boat done up the same, but it was a long time ago.

On a related topic, I wonder what is the best way to put on either a removable tow hitch or one that is not, uhhh, ugly - on a '57 Fury???
