My plan was to use the original bellows style booster and dual mc from a Volare on my 56 Dodge along with the AAJ kit. I was mocking everything up and saw the brake booster that I have for my 56 Dodge is dry rotted. I do not think it is worth rebuilding. My car will be set up with 4 wheel disc brakes. Has anyone retrofitted a modern sytle can type Power Brake Booster and dual MC to a 55 or 56? Id love to know what you used. I saw on the board that some 57's and 58's used a setup from a early 70's Duster but I am not sure if that will translate to the 55 and 56. Over the weekend I did manage to get hold of a mid 80's Chrysler booster MC setup and a setup from a mid 80's Firebird to try to narrow down the options. While with enought drilling and fabricating either could be made to work, I suspect that there is something out there that that is close. What I have found is that these booster assemblies (and those sold by SS brakes and MP brakes) all l seem to have the brake rod attached to the booster. While the non power setup that is in the car has the rod attached to the brake pedal and a cup that receives the rod in the master cyl. I am hoping to be able to retain the brake pedal and rod and get a booster the will bolt to the original location of the MC on the firewall. Is anyone famiiar with a power brake booster that does not have the rod attached to the booster? Or are they all set up like this? Any thoughts are appreciated.
