"Vacuum Advance ("V.A." ) actuating rod" ; that's kinda stupid!! But seriously, that steel Accelerator-pump actuating rod may be exhibiting 'sloppiness', or lost-motion-connection, where it attaches to the accelerator pump's external-pivot-arm, which might cause a certain amount of 'hesitation', upon initial start-up, even after the accelerator pump assembly may be adjusted, or replaced.
