Ah, yes. It's a patented aftermarket accessory called the Passing Eye, made here in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the mid-1950s or thereabouts. It acts a bit like a periscope in that it extends your view outside the car and around the vehicle ahead of you, without you having to crane your neck out the window; so actually, it's a *front*-view mirror, made for ease of passing on narrow roads. I have two NOS ones in boxes. No one here seems to know exactly who made them or where, but they definitely were seen often at the time, and still are. They were not specific to Chrysler, though.
