The original "Plodge" was a Plymouth with a Dodge front end, giving Dodge a Plymouth-sized car before the Dodge Dart was introduced. This one, though, is a 122" wheelbase Polara with a Plymouth front end. There are two items on the car that are not factory. One is the trunk lid "spare wheel form". That was not offered on any 1961 Plymouth, Dodge or DeSoto. It was offered on the Chrysler and Imperial, but the deck lid was like that of the Valiant with the spare wheel form actually stamped into the trunk lid sheet metal. The rear lower panel trim, with the wood grain, is incorrect. Note it is only on the driver's side with nothing on the passenger side. The "D-500" badge was placed on the lower panel with no background. Would like to know how the owner determined the car's Mexican connection. Just one of those cars you wonder, why? It combines the worst parts of the Plymouth and Dodge. It's loaded down with options, but truly is a hodge podge Plodge.
