I can think of two things.. if it is a metal ball and socket you can dis asemble the unit, and using a small punch, dimple the ball it's self. I had to do this on a 64 Lincoln I once owned. The other thing I can think of is , and especialy if it is a nylon or plastic ball and socket is to use masking tape. Same thing, dis asemble the unit and wrap a small pice of tape around the ball to take up slack and provide friction.
