The magic answer is: if it now turns by hand a complete revolution, you're in good shape. If it stops anywhere, don't force it. As others stated, soak it with Marvel Mystery Oil and then after a few days try it again. Don't slam it into any obstruction, this will break rings. The stopage is usually rust build-up in the above the piston area of each cyl, particulary the ones who have a valve open.
If above fails, tear it down.

Besides Marvel Mystery Oil, which I used and it worked great, another one to try is "Olive Oil." Yup, use some for a great Italian dinner and then use the rest for soaking your cylinders! Be careful though, all the single Italian girls in the neighborhood will be hovering around your garage! 8 ) John in WI
