Reggie, It may depend on which car you have. On my 56 Dodge, the inner fenders were painted with a thin tar-like coating that is semi-flat black. It doesn't look like paint and stays soft. It washes off fast with a touch on lacquer thinner. It weathers off fast on exposed cars I have seen in salvage yards. My preference is stay with factory colors, including gloss level, even if using improved materials. The inner fenders that you see by looking in past the front wheels from the outside. Were they body color or black? I tried black on the left side and body color ( Dove Grey) on the right and to be honest the right side actually looks better painted body color. Comments? Reggie in not too warm Moyock, NC.
