FYI, I understand the 8 3/4 rears, expecially sure grip rears, are not as easy to come by as they once were and prices are rising. The February 2004 Mopar Action has an article on how to add a sure grip to a chry 8 1/4 rear. Says they are strong enough for a small block or mild BB. These came in Jeeps, dakotas and vans. I think some jeeps might even have rear discs? Could be an alternative to consider for a street car. I have an Ebody one I am lining up right now. Its a couple of inches wider but the axle housing is more recessed in the backing plate and with the new style rims I have the track looks like it will be within a half inch, so nothing rim offsets won't take care of. Spring perches will have to be moved. The F body rearends are also the right width but I didn't have any luck locating the type that would take the lower ratios and it ended up being cheaper and easier to get the 8 3/4 ebody.
