On the "linkage" (left) side the only number you could read is a cast number which doesn't show the applications of the trans.(see my pic at http://www.ifrance.com/c-/i-f/images2/tqf-thr4b.jpg it's the same than yours .. ) The identification number is engraved on the right side on the edge of the oil pan flange , approx. above the oil filler tube inlet. Often 2 numbers with letters, the right must begin with 17 or 18 or 19 (i.e 1738227, 1854123, 1949256 for NY). Number location : http://www.ifrance.com/c-i-f/images2/tqfnumber.jpg (oil pan, regulator, valves etc.. removed). This is a 1738227 from a '57 Imperial. The letter F is a production date code (there were some improvements during production so you must refer to this letter to know if your trans. was "improved" or not) -- Philippe COURANT (Pau, France)- Webmaster des sites ACCF et C-I-F Imperial 1957 Crown convertible Buick 1996 Roadmaster wagon - American Car Club de France (ACCF) : http://www.accf.com - Chrysler Imperial France (C-I-F) : http://www.ifrance.com/c-i-f - Cadillac " Standard of Excellence " : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-cad - SportsCars : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-sprtcar -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2003 Calendar voting results and ordering information is online!
