[FWDLK] Timing is everything: Adjusting valves

OK, time to break down and adjust the mechanical valves in the 318. Here's
the firing order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. So, I get the engine good and warm, then
pull one of the valve covers, adjust the valves, put the cover back on, warm
up the engine again, pull the other valve cover and repeat. Correct?

Now, on the assumption that both intake and exhaust valves are closed with
the piston at TDC on a combustion stroke -- can I do the adjustment on the
following schedule, from the starting position of an alignment of the timing
marks?

Left bank: set timing marks
                adjust #1 cylinder
                turn crank 3/4 turn
                adjust #3 cylinder
                turn crank 1/2 turn
                adjust #5 cylinder
                turn crank 1/4 turn
                adjust #7 cylinder

Right bank: set timing marks
                turn crank 1/4 turn
                adjust #8 cylinder
                turn crank 1/4 turn
                adjust #4 cylinder
                turn crank 1/2 turn
                adjust #6 cylinder
                turn crank 3/4 turn
                adjust #2 cylinder

Does that sound about right? Does anyone have any tips for me?
