Yeah the trunk lids did leak like a sieve, but I have a TSB that describes a procedure for elongating the lower mounting holes of the hood hinges to snug down the top of the hood. Also the shop manual shows how to properly bend the trunk lid to conform to the body shell a little better. Regarding the color of the inner trunk lid, most of the original Plymouths I have seen have it painted some shade of gray--a mix of left over paint lying around, or so I was told by someone that had worked on the line. For Dodges, I have seen both gray and black inner trunk lids. It may be related to where the car was built and what spare paint they had lying around at the time. One thing that we can be certain of is that, in the case of 57-9 Plys and Dodges, they were not painted body color. :-) My 2 cents.
