Today i've remove the right front drum (i know it was the right wheel because i made some hard braking in my wet courtyard and the right wheel left some black rubber "stamps" ..). All was fine, no broken parts, no play on shoes, no leaking brake cylinders, no grease or fluid elsewhere. So i decide to install my spare left drum (the one with the 3 spring brackets but i remove them !). I test briefly the car: perfect braking , no grabing, no wheel locks (except if i brake very hard) and no "out-of-round" feeling just before the car stops. When i have the two drums on ground, i measure internal diameter: the "culprit" drum is 12.008 inch diameter and the "new" is 11.98 inch. Seems that it wasn't ever turned. What do you think of installing a left on right side ? (according to thread studs). I've put some Loctite on 2 nuts ... -- Philippe COURANT (Pau, France)- Webmaster des sites ACCF et C-I-F Imperial 1957 Crown convertible Buick 1996 Roadmaster wagon - American Car Club de France (ACCF) : http://www.accf.com - Chrysler Imperial France (C-I-F) : http://www.ifrance.com/c-i-f - Cadillac " Standard of Excellence " : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-cad - SportsCars : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-sprtcar -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2003 Calendar voting results and ordering information is online!
