I used to have a 6v  1941 Plymouth all original.
When I wanted a decent radio tapeplayer for
traveling tunes, I needed twelve volts.

Easiest way is to get a small 12volt battery and
use it to power your device. Charge it occasionally,
when it is convenient.

A small lawnmower battery in the trunk is just fine.
Use individual wiring, not the 6 volt system's wires.

You'll probably get a lot of good answers.
I think this is the easiest way, though.
