Your D-500 in 1958 with 2, 4-bbl carbs and 320 bhp was a 361 V8. Dodge never built a 342. The fellow in the eBay ad is correct about the 1958 Dodge D-500 and the DeSoto using the 361 V8, The standard engine in the Coronet and Royal V8 was the poly 325 V8 carried over from 1957, while the Custom Royal used the 350 V8, which was also used in the DeSoto Firesweep and as an optional engine in the Plymouth. The above is for U.S. production. Canadian Plymouths had one V8 - the 313, while Canadian-built Dodge Custom Royal and DeSoto Firedome models used the Chrysler Windsor's poly 354. No Dodge Coronet and Royal or DeSoto Firesweep in Canada, and the DeSoto Fireflite was imported. Hmmmm, if I recall correctly, the D-500 I owned in '58 had a 342 in it with 2 4bbls and was rated at 320 hp.
