I felt compelled to quote a much more famous Marty. I had left the second drum under tension all night. A few whacks on the wrench and one on the hub and off it came. No bang at all on this one. I decided to do the parts car. The first drum came off while I was fumbling with the bolts to position the puller. On the other I set the puller in a little tension and it came off easily as I tightened the wheel bolts. So I guess I got to see both ends of the spectrum. Next plan is to fine some no seize stuff. Thanks to everyone for their prayers, it seemed to help.
