Victory - Tried Dave Grove's tip and jacked car up
in rear and got her up to 60/70. Vibration still there so ruled out front end.
Installed drive shaft from my 4 dr Fury driver and while installing it took tip
from fellow at work who owned a 58 Ply back in the 60's and checked the large
nut (inch and a quarter) holding hand brake drum on. It was loose - I could turn
it with my fingers. I tightend it and put other drive shaft on and vibration is
gone. So now I don't know if it was the drive shaft or that loose nut
causing the vibes. But it could have surely been the nut because the loose
drum would have made the drive shaft shake. Some day when I get rested
up from all this I'm going to put old drive shaft back on, then I'll know.
What kind of threw me off the track on this is that the vibrations were felt
mainly in steering wheel. Thanks again for all the replies.
