To Marty Stewart <moopar2ya2@xxxxxxxxx> who wrote in reply to : Used car buying checklist >.....The only thing I would add would be ....... a list of pathetic excuses to ones spouse (and self) rationalizing the purchase of yet another old car.< This reminds me of when we moved to the country and I wanted a gun, but my wife is very anti-gun. As luck would have it, stray dogs killed several sheep on our neighbor's farm a couple of weeks after we moved in, and this worried my wife since we had sheep of our own. So I was allowed to get an old Winchester 94 for this. But then I persuaded her that this was too inaccurate at distance, so I was allowed to buy a rifle with a scope. Then I persuaded her there might be a night attack and that a shotgun would be the best thing for blasting away in the dark. Then I realised that the scope rifle I had was a little lightweight for a big coyote, so a .bigger rifle followed, but if there was a pack of 'em I'd need more firepower, so a semi auto and 30 shot clip was acquired, and of course we all know that humanity requires that an animal be put out of its misery, so I had to get an automatic pistol. However, I soon found out that automatics have a tendency to jam, and a more reliable revolver followed. I think my wife has lost count now, although the .50 cal. Boyes anti-tank gun that I fancy might be a little obtrusive, and I'd better wait a while before I risk it. But I'm definitely in need of a few good excuses for buying more cars, especially since gasoline is cheaper than cartridges (hey, maybe that's one excuse!)
