I don't think the new rotary compressors use that much H.P. Hopefully someone has a number, I couldn't find one. ( only thing I saw was that new air compressor units are 80% more effecient than the earlier models and can provide 3 tons of cooling, which is enough for the average 7 room house.) On my 85 T-Bird I experimented with the A/C to prove a point to my cheap skate father in law. Mileage drop with air on, windows up, about 2 mpg, with windows rolled down and air off about 5 mpg. Course as swoopy as our FWDLK cars are, probably not going to see that dramatic a change.

I have been told that A/C takes 40 HP from your engine...for a 6-cylinder, that is a huge deficit. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JASON ROGERS" To: Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 7:46 AM Subject: [FWDLK] A/C and the Flathead 6
