Re: [FWDLK] Basic Ignition Electrical

Hi everyone, im trying to start a 1955 vehicle that has not run in 10 years,
the wiring is a mess, and I dont have keys, I just want to try to fire up the
motor....I was under the impression if I ran a jumper wire from positive on
the battery to positive on the coil, I should have spark at the points when I
open them, but I dont! I have replaced the points, condenser, and cleaned all
terminals, I checked with my meter, and im getting voltage to the coil thru
the jumper wire, I get voltage thru the coil when checked on both terminals,
and voltage at the points where the points wire connects to them, but they
dont spark when opened, also I noticed the coil getting warm, I even tryed a
different coil, the results were the same....with old points, and condenser,
and new points and condenser, electrical is my weak subject!! any
suggestions? the motor turns over, I just need spark thru the points, thanks
in advance! Terry
