Re: [FWDLK] Long-distance car buying:

It can be a nerve wracking experience David. The first thing to do is
to cross reference all information on how to get in touch with the
seller. All their phone #'s and addresses then use them to call and ask
questions to verify they work for him(her). Make copies of everything to
document your existance and what you send to them, send them registered
reciept requested. If at all possible, fly out and satisfy yourself to
finish the transaction, it will cost more but may be worth it to do a
face to face. I bought a car in Montana and bought it by Poloroids. The
phones worked when he answered them, which wasn't as timely as I wanted.
There was a delay in shipping and I sweated alot. Car came and my heart
sank, untill I spent a few hours with a hose and brushes to clean it up
enough to see the forrest through the trees. It worked out for me. My
side kick bought a 50's Jag for 23K and after it arrived discovered that
the restoration included the frame, nice glossy black paint hiding the
aluminum gutters hiding the rusted frame rails. Being a lawyer helped,
the dealer made good on over 10K in repairs after threats of interstate
fraud. Document document document and then jump in...
