For the '57 and '58 Fury, the "molded" armrest is simply a chunk of wood (appears to be softwood) cut into the desired shape, padded, and covered with upholstery.  I grabbed one out of a stripped '57 Fury in a junkyard in Fresno, CA, "unwrapped" it, and found this out.  I don't know if it's the same for the Dodges that other people were asking about.
