Mel, I have an old 50's Hop Up magazine that states on all the early hemi engines you can "only" safely do 65 thou of head milling. I have milled a 55 Dodge head 45 thou and did not have to resurface the intake, but to be safe I used a the thicker composite gaskets not the shim type for both the heads and the intake surfaces. With the age of these parts I would personally stay in that 40 thou range. On this particular engine I reasoned that the milling and cam grinding would equal out and used the stock push rods, it worked excellent. Tim
