Hurray! The 58 Savoy that has been consuming so much of my energy and time is now driving! Now I have a few questions about these cars inherent driving characteristics. First the temp gauge reads high when driving at speeds above 40 and lowers back down at idle. BTW it's a new motor (318 not broken in yet ). The timing may be a little too advanced, but no pinging. The radiator is freshly recored, water pump, hoses, thermostat are new. the car doesn't boil over and fluid is not coming out of overflow. The car doesn't sound or smell hot. Perhaps the gauge just reads high? Second, there is a lot of wind noise coming from around the A pillar. Bad seal or just design flaw? Other than these first few bugs, this car drives smoother, stops better and lights up the tires better than my 64 Dodge. I look forward to hearing from some of you other guys that have 57-58 Plymouths. Thanks in advance, Larry Gardinier |
