hi all,
the struts conecting the lower arms to the frame are to stop the arm from moving back and forward while driving which keeps the steering geometry correct , some cars had them to the rear of the arm these are compresion struts, later cars have a anti-roll bar instead which does the same job but also helps to stabilize the car on cornering as one side is helping the other similar to a torsion bar efect, it is worth checking the rubber in the frame where the strut goes through as these wear out causing more wear on the lower arm bush, plus it can make the tracking and wheel alignment out of line. hope this helps paul. |
